BEEF BEIJING

If you are like me who loves cooking then you will enjoy this recipe.  I know a lot of us loves eating at the restaurant, however to avoid spending so much money at the restaurant.  You can actually cook your favorite food at your house.  All you need is finding the right ingredients that is easy to follow.  Today I am sharing you this Beef Beijing recipe that my Facebook friend One Love One Kitchen made.   Looking at this picture just made me hungry.  Beef Beijing is very popular and very easy to make as well.

This is a very tasty and definitely a crowd pleaser.  Beef Beijing, is not hard to put together,  it’s full of flavor . Thanks to One Love One Kitchen for giving me an opportunity to share this recipe here in my blog. Also if you can’t eat beef I am sure can substitute it with Chicken.  If you are vegetarian you can also use tofu on this and still get a delicious meal.

You can eat this with rice, the sauce will put flavor on your rice. You can find Beef Beijing at some buffet, some are made different.  I hope that you enjoy this recipe, and let me know what you think about it.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Flank Steak
  • Vegetable Oil for frying
  • 4 gloves garlic
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup cornstarch divided
  • 1 egg
Beijing Beef Sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 6 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 4 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 4 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp red pepper flakes

Instructions
  1. Cut flank steak against the grain into 1/4" slices, same thickness you get at Panda Express.
  2. In medium sized bowl add the beef, egg, salt & just 1 Tbsp of the cornstarch and marinate for 30 minutes or longer.
  3. While this is marinating you can prep the vegetables and mix the sauce together.
  4. After the beef has finished marinating, coat the beef in cornstarch with a light coating.
  5. Add enough oil to your pan to get a deep fry and fry these at medium high heat for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Drain out your oil until you have enough left in the pan you want to sauté your onions, red peppers and garlic down with and cook them to your preference.
  7. Add in the sauce you mixed in bowl from earlier and beef and bring the entire mixture to a boil and then simmer until the sauce thickens.
Recipe Notes

**If you're having trouble getting it to the thickness you want, add about 1 Tbsp of cornstarch slurry at a time, which is a combination of 2 parts warm water, 1 part cornstarch until it gets to the consistency that you desire. 2 parts warm water, 1 part cornstarch until it gets to the consistency that you desire.
