Ingredients
  • 2 Big Banana Blossoms (Cut, soak in salt water, and squeeze)
  • 3 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt (add more if needed)
  • 3 tbsp fish sauce
  • 5 tbsp soy sauce (add more if needed)
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ cup onions
  • ½ cup jalapeño (seeded and sliced)
  • 3 tbsp fresh ginger
  • 6 clove of garlic sliced
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 ½ cup shredded fish (any fish will do)

Instructions
Cleaning the Banana Blossoms
  1. In a big bowl add about 8 cups of water, and ¼ cup of salt and set aside.
  2. On your cutting board rub some oil or vinegar to avoid staining the cutting board. You can use your old cutting board but still rub it with oil or vinegar, as well as your knife.
  3. Cut the head of the banana blossoms, and start removing the red part of the blossoms. Once you reach to the pinkish color part of the banana blossoms you can start cutting since it’s the edible part and it won’t be though to eat.
  4. Cut from the bottom of the banana blossoms to the top. Once you are done cutting soak the cut banana blossoms in the salted water that we prepare ealier and let it set for about 10 to 15 minutes to get all the sap.
  5. When time is up, start squeezing the banana blossoms to get rid of the sap, I used my mind when I squeeze it about ½ cup each time so it’s easier for me to squeeze.
  6. Once you are done squeezing the juice out, rinse the banana blossoms and set aside let it drain.
Cooking Procedures
  1. In a big skillet, heat up your oil in medium heat. Once it’s hot add the garlic and ginger. Let it cook for about two minutes, stirring every now and then to avoid burning the garlic.
  2. Add the onions, and cook for another 3 minutes until the onions is translucent.
  3. Add the tomatoes, fish, and jalopeno. Mix well and cook for another 4 minutes.
  4. Now add the banana blossoms, salt, peppers, vinegar, fish sauce, soy sauce, and water. Mix well until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
  5. Cook for about 20 – 25 minutes, until the banana blossoms is soft. Add a little water if needed, and don’t forget to stir it every now and then.
  6. Serve with rice and enjoy.
