Ingredients
  • ½ cup onions chopped or diced
  • 8 cloves garlic chopped
  • ¼ cup ginger fresh
  • ½ cup tomatoes chopped
  • bunch of saluyot leaves about 2 cups
  • 2 cans sardines any sardines will do
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • salt & ground pepper to taste
  • 1 ½ cup water
  • 3 star anise
  • ¼ cup soy sauce

Instructions
  1. In the skillet heat up the oil. Once the oil is hot add the ginger, onions, and star anise. Let it saute for about 2 minutes.
  2. Add the garlic and tomatoes, mix them well. Cook for 2 minutes. Then add the sardines, soy sauce, ground pepper, and water. Bring to boil and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the the bamboo shoots, mix well until all the ingredients are well combine. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  4. After 5 minutes add the saluyot leaves, mix well and cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until the saluyot is cook.
  5. Serve with rice or quinoa.
